We know that many of the traditional observances which are celebrated at this time of year are without biblical foundation; but in all seasons it is appropriate for us to rejoice in the birth of our Saviour. No one knows the exact date of His birth, but we do know He was born of the virgin Mary and came for the purpose of saving His people from their sins.

No wonder the angel could say, “Fear not: behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.” And what were those tidings? “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” This event brought a multitude of angels from heaven praising God.

Surely we can rejoice and praise God today that the Saviour was born, died for sinners and arose victoriously from the grave. If you know you are a sinner, you give thanks every day for such a wonderful Saviour.
