It is easy to become discouraged when you listen to the daily news. You hear of mass shootings on a regular basis, the rumblings of war among major powers, and the trend in our country to turn away from foundational truths which have sustained it through the years. But in all this we are reminded of how thankful we can be that the God we worship is absolutely sovereign, and He is still on the throne.

“But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased” (Psalm 115:3). As dark clouds often hang overhead, we turn to the truth of God’s sovereignty not just as an article in our Confession of Faith, but as a truth to support us on a daily basis. “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee” (Psalm 56:3).
