The Chapmans with Larry King
Jesus told us, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven" Matthew 5:16. Ironically, the light we are given, in Jesus Christ, shines brightest in our darkest personal circumstances. It is when we face the most soul-crushing, fear-inducing waves of grief and pain that we have the greatest opportunity to speak with authority and validity of the transcendent, transforming power of Jesus Christ.
I am so thankful for the faithful and light-defusing grace with which Steven Curtis Chapman and his family were able to speak to Larry King yesterday, regarding the death of their youngest daughter Maria Sue, whom they adopted from China and who died May 21, 2008.
Although it is a long interview, there is not a segment of it that does not contains some precious jewel of gospel truth and the grace of God. As the entire Chapman family -- including their son Will who was driving the car that accidentally killed Maria Sue -- interviewed with Larry King, they were asked about everything from how to deal grief, to why God allows bad things to happen, to how this tragedy affected their faith, and to whether they will adopt again. Their faith-filled answers were clearly to the glory of their Savior Jesus Christ.
I encourage you to watch, and listen, to their moving testimony...and let their faith in Jesus Christ remind you of the strength and truth of your own:
