Prayer As Persistent Begging

Comparing prayer to begging is not a flattering picture to be sure, but it is an accurate one. And we see this perhaps nowhere more clearly than in the story of a woman who comes to Jesus, begging for his help in Matthew 15.What do you think great faith looks like? Judging from the story of this woman, and Jesus’ commentary on her interaction with him, “great faith” looks suspiciously like total desperation! It looks like coming to the absolute end of yourself and your own solutions.Great, faithful prayer looks like begging. Like begging God, through Jesus Christ, no matter how humiliating the experience.
