Pierced For Our Transgressions

In Isaiah 53 we have divine commentary on what took place at the cross. Written 700 years before Jesus' day, the prophecy of Isaiah reminds us the cross was no accident or plan B -- it was God's perfect plan of redemption, accomplished through the perfect sacrifice of his Son.Nowhere is the holiness, the justice, the love, the mercy of God more on display that at the cross. Jesus was not unjustly cursed on the cross, crushed by God. He was slain in the place of God’s people. Jesus received what our sins deserved; and those who believe in Jesus therefore receive what Jesus alone deserved: total acceptance by God.
