The Lord Will Roar

The Lord Will Roar
/

"The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither" (Amos 1:2).

Here we see the power of a theophany -- God entering his creation! In Amos, God comes to visit -- is that good? It all depends! What does he find when he comes to your home, dinner table, workplace, bedroom, checkbook, or computer browsing history (not the erasable one, but the one He keeps)?

The irony in the book of Amos is that Israel longed for “the day of the Lord” prophesied before, presuming it would bring blessings for them regardless of their actions! What about you? Are you trusting in God's grace, or presuming upon God's grace?

Join us as we consider the terrific, and troubling, implications when God personally comes to visit.
