Is it possible to claim fellowship with and love for the one true God, while actually serving a god of your own imagination? Such a god is always amused at our silliness, delights in our ‘imperfections’, and understands our sins -- but this, the prophet Amos roars, is not the God of the Bible!

Rather than this pretense of worship and religion, which is repulsive to God, let righteousnss roll! Engage in genuine godliness, before God and toward others. This call is a call to repentance, but also a word of hope; because it still calls for change!

The one true God is at once our problem and our solution. He demands repentence, yet he gives hope to those who turn to him.
