Joseph Is a Faithful Prisoner

The spirit of stewardship is rare today, and has been rare in every age of human history. It is perhaps for this reason, as much as any other, that the story of Joseph is so striking to us.There are two things that repeatedly, abundantly are made clear in Joseph’s story: the providence of God and the faithful stewardship of Joseph. Over and over again Joseph displays faithful care over whatever is providentially placed under his influence.In Genesis 40, we once again observe Joseph’s stewardship – not only of the things other people put under his care, but of the gifts that God himself puts under Joseph’s care.The spirit of stewardship sees everything and everyone around us as opportunities to serve God, point to God, further God’s purposes in the world.
