Psalms 136:1-26
His Steadfast Love Endures Forever
/
The last several psalms have been called a “fireworks of praise”, reflecting the fact that as we arrive at the end of the psalms we come to the end, the purpose, of our existence -- to praise God!And as F.F. Bruce observes, "Praise in the Old Testament is not sentimental or vague but solidly grounded in particular, practical, and personal aspects of God."In Psalm 136, the call to worship is based on the fact that God's steadfast love endures forever. The psalmist goes on to show God's enduring love displayed in: 1) who God is, 2) God's work in creation, 3) God's work in salvation, and 4) God's general and far-reaching grace.
