The First Command

God’s law is meant to be a window through which one sees the greatness and goodness of God. What then does the first of the Ten Commandments say about God? God is telling us that he is so wonderful that the most loving, most generous, most gracious thing he can do is point us to himself, and away from anything else, as our great sufficiency!Put positively, God commands us not to have another god because he is everything we need.
