“I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound; every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need” (Philippians 4:12).
First we learn from this passage that contentment must be learned. By nature we are prone to complain and so true contentment must be learned.
Then we consider the question, “What is this contentment?” It is not a stoic response which would make us indifferent to our duties, but surrendering to the providence of our sovereign God.
And finally we look at the question of how this contentment is maintained. We hope you will receive both instruction and encouragement as you listen to this message.
