This past Sunday I shared a message from the Beware of Small Sins series, warning against prayerlessness.
While I’m convinced many of us merely think of a missed devotion or prayer meeting as missing out on a little bit more blessing (”ye have not because ye ask not”), I tried to show from Scripture the truth of Corrie Ten Boom’s contention that “prayerlessness is a sin.”
During the course of the message, I quoted Martin Luther’s amazing observation that “I have so much business I cannot get on without spending three hours daily in prayer” — and on the negative side, the convicting quote from John Piper: “One of the great uses of Twitter and Facebook will be to prove at the Last Day that prayerlessness was not from lack of time.”
In the following excerpt from Joshua Harris, he humorously but pointedly pleads for the exercise of self-control, specifically in relation to our modern addiction to technology:

Wow, you hit it right on the head. Please send me more stuff about this if you have anymore. And I don’t think this leads to spiritual poverity, I think it leads to real poverity; which is probably interconnected.

As I listened, I thought of a statement I heard this week, “If you were on trial for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you? Sobering thought…
