“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins”

– Matthew 1:21

In the mad bustle that gives birth to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, we often forget to pause and thank God for the greatest gift the world will ever know — the incarnation of Jesus Christ in order to accomplish salvation.

In an effort to return to the meaty reality of Christ’s birth and its powerful and redemptive implications, we have put together a list of resources that focus on the Christ and his marvelous advent into the world.

As always, it is our hope that, as result, “your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ.”

Free and online resources:

  • Thou Shalt Call His Name Jesus (part 1 and part 2) — a message by Lasserre Bradley, Jr. What good news! A savior to be born. And he was born of a virgin. And his name is Jesus.
  • Jesus Saves — our 55th anniversary broadcast,  focusing on the implications of Matthew 1:21.
  • A Virgin Shall Be With Child — an article by Lasserre Bradley, Jr. The promised event had been long anticipated. The prophet Isaiah had declared that day was coming; and now Matthew writes it has come!
  • Thankful on this day — A Finding Grace blog post by Justin Huffman, thanking God for his two newly adopted children, brought home December 24th of last year, and “that two thousand years ago unto us a child was born, unto us a son was given… and his name is Wonderful.”
  • Wonderful — a BBH daily devotional, meditating on the beauty and wonder of the promised Messiah, as prophesied in Isaiah 9:3.
  • Is it alright for Christians to celebrate Christmas? An honest Q&A with a Christ-centered answer.
