Jesus Christ Admired, pt 1

“When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day” (2 Thessalonians 1:10).
There is a vivid contrast between the first coming and the second coming of Jesus Christ. When He first came He was despised and rejected; when He returns He comes to be glorified and admired. He came the first time as a humble servant; He is coming the second time as the conquering King. He came the first time to save sinners; He is coming the second time to take vengeance on those who know not God.
Paul here provides comfort to the troubled and persecuted church. He admonishes them to rest in this great truth that Jesus Christ is coming back. He is coming both to bring punishment on the wicked and to be admired by His saints. What hope and joy it brings to God’s suffering people to anticipate that day when all of His saints from every age will see His glory, admire Him, and enter into the joy of praising Him forever!
