Why God’s People Suffer (pt 1 of 2)

WHY GOD’S PEOPLE SUFFER

“And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also; knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience, and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” (Romans 5:3-5)

When we are suffering physically or passing through a time of great trial, it doesn’t seem possible that any good could ever come out of it. Yet Paul says we glory in tribulations and the reason we do is that something good is going to come out of the trial. The suffering itself is not good but the patience, the experience, and the hope that springs from it is very good.

The Scriptures describe various ways in which good may come from our sufferings. In this message we will look at eight of them. It is our prayer that if you are passing through a difficult time, you will find hope and courage in this message, and if you know of someone who is suffering you may want to encourage them to listen as well.
